What is the Project?

The funded project is called 'On ground works for sustainable agriculture'. It will provide incentives to increase sustainable grazing management and conservation cropping.

The project aims to:
º Increase adoption of conservation farming techniques to minimise the impacts of cultivation and restore soil biology;
º Increase the area of pastures managed to increase the perennial component therefore minimise accessions to the water table;
º Increase the awareness of natural resource management;

Activities of the project include:
º Machinery Conversion for Conservation Farming;
º Establishment of perennial & native pastures
º Management of perennial pastures through fencing and water point locations.
º Soil testing and review of results to consider management actions.
º Field Days and Workshops in Conservation Farming Methods for cropping and grazing systems

How can your Landcare Group access funds?

LCWL is a volunteer group and due to changes in available resources negotiated with the Lachlan Catchment Management Authority joint management that will see the Lachlan CMA disseminate the funding through the 'Land' component of their 2005 Incentive Funding Process.

The $700,000 NLP funding has been prioritised for Landcare Group projects within the Lachlan CMA's 2005 'Land' Incentives.

Further to this, Group members have the opportunity to improve their project ranking by being part of a group project proposal, across all programs in the Lachlan CMA's 2005 Incentives. This includes Vegetation and Water Quality projects.

Who to contact?

The Lachlan CMA has Catchment Officers located in 13 offices throughout the catchment. They are your 'Landcare Contacts'. Please call your nearest Catchment Officer to discuss an individual or Landcare Group Project.

Central West Catchmnent NLP Project
will commence when funding becomes available.

Information will be provided to Landcare groups on the type of projects to be funded and how to apply for this funding when dollars are available.
